Bill Reed is an intercultural consultant, researcher, writer and management trainer, specialising in helping Western and East Asian managers work together more effectively.

After serving a management apprenticeship in Plessey, the electronics company, Bill joined an international training company specialising in management communication across cultures. In the early 80's, his interest in Asia having been sparked during his experiences as a trainer at INSEAD, he became the company’s salesman in Asia.

In 1984 and 1985, he set up the company's Asian subsidiary based in Tokyo. On his return to Europe, he pioneered a highly successful entry into the cross-cultural training market, designing and developing specific and generic courses focused on doing business in Asia.

During this time, he was a regular visitor to the region selling to and training managers from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Sri Lanka as well as the big three: Japan, Korea and China. In the 90's, Bill became a Partner and took on a number of senior management responsibilities including periods as General Manager of the Italian subsidiary and seven years as Sales and Marketing Director of the company worldwide.

From 1997 until 2001, he was President of the Japanese subsidiary. In 2001, Bill resigned to found East Asia Business to focus on his main area of interest.
